We've completed six weeks of school already. Time is flying this year! We've traveled (in geography) through the USA learning to identify all 50 states and important US landmarks.
We've been having lots of fun with art this year. While traveling through the USA, we created sand art (from Global Art) like the Native American tribes.
We spent two weeks studying Mexico. The girls made a pinata as well as tissue paper flowers. The flowers were by far the favorite art project (from A Trip Around the World) to date.
I have made a few changes to MFW with Olivia. She's much more hands-on than the other girls. Sitting quietly isn't her way of learning, as you can see from her hanging up-side down pose.
So, we've gone back to lapbooking for her. She still follows MFW, but lapbooks the countries rather than just listening to read-alouds or reading herself and filling out worksheets. It seems to be working well, but we are still tweaking as we go.
Bailey is doing really well this year. He has really become more self-motivated and is moving through the year well. He loves his co-op and is doing great in the Spanish class there. He's joined the student council at co-op and is helping plan up-coming service projects.
We're off to Canada next!
